Antique Kipling Pocket Books | 1920s Leather Library Set of 3
A Rare Piece of Publishing History
This set of three miniature books comes from the Rare Little Leather Library, Redcroft Version (1921–1924) — one of the most charming and collectible book series of the early 20th century. Originally issued in genuine leather, wartime material shortages led to the use of latex-coated canvas with interior flocking, making these editions a fascinating artifact of their era.
Sold as a mail-order item and advertised in popular magazines, these tiny volumes were even included in Whitman candy boxes sold at Woolworths. The imprint was later acquired by Robert Haas, and the publishing house indirectly gave rise to Random House.

Why We Chose It
We chose this set of miniature vintage books for its unusual scale, beautiful aged character, and fascinating connection to early 20th-century publishing history. Dating to the 1920s, these tiny leather volumes are more than decorative objects—they're authentic artifacts from another era, complete with the imperfections and signs of age that make vintage pieces so special. We love them tucked into a collected bookshelf or displayed on a tabletop, where their history becomes part of the story of the room.
